I absorbed the basics of life and painting from my father, James Cassidy. In the late 1970's I spent five years working in a Graphic Design studio in Dublin City. The influence of that discipline can be seen in some of my paintings.
I enjoy experimenting with various painting styles and mediums also photography and lately, digital art. I was honored to win a master class when I submitted my painting, The Burren, back in the 1990's with the renowned contemporary Irish artist Robert Ballagh.
I have been involved in community art and education particularly with under represented communities. I believe that, like many of the other visual and performance arts, painting and photography transcends race, colour, religion and gender forms of self-expression, activism and communication. I am married with five children and nine grandchildren to date.
I work from my studio in the heritage town of Trim, Meath Ireland.
