Hello, my first name is Heidi. My family name is De Leeuw, which is Dutch for The Lion.
I was born in the mid 1960s. From the early 1980s on I worked in sales and administration.
From the moment my husband started 'AAP Art and Photography' as an ecommerce company back in 2000, I developed a growing interest in what he was doing, and specifically in digital restoration of photos, postcards and posters.
Sometimes people ask me why I spend so much time in taking a worn and torn image and restoring it to its original beauty, I answer them with another question: why are old paintings and classic cars being restored? Because, make no mistake, restoration is an art and a craft. No fancy magic software, but pixel by pixel cleaning and fixing.
To make a long story short: in 2009 my husband was forced to retire because of a serious illness, so I took over his business and turned my hobby into a profession. I've been succesfully selling my stuff online since late 2010 (15,000 customers so far and counting), and started here on Fine Art America in April 2015.
PS: if you have an old family, company or hometown photo or postcard that you want to have restored and enlarged, don't hesitate to contact me.
PPS: If you're interested in a selection of my other stuff, you can search images Google for 'aapshop'.
