One of the most anticipated times of the day in Death Valley is sunrise, and there is no better place to be at sunrise than Zabriskie Point. The low sun angle at this time creates dramatic shadows in the ridges and valleys of the erosional landscape. The location is named after Christian Zabriskie, an executive of the Pacific Coast Borax Company, whose 20-mule teams were used to transport borax from its mining operations in Death Valley. Remember 20-Mule Team Borax cleaning powder?!
