Title
Western Hemlock Grove. Olympic Peninsula
Artist
Connie Fox
Medium
Photograph - Outdoor Bw Photo
Description
A thick, dense grove of western hemlock trees on the Olympic Peninsula of the state of Washington, USA, provides welcome shade and a spectacular view across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Canada, barely visible here.
The tall western hemlock is Washington’s state tree, and very important for both lumber and paper pulp. Hemlocks typically live about 400 to 500 years, and these beautiful trees are well-established. This peaceful scene, uncropped and rendered in black and white monochrome, is known as an evergreen image--literally--for it will never go out of style.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
