Several weeks after my birthday my brother brought over some beautiful tiny red carnations and said happy birthday. He said these will last a long time if you just change the water. Little did he know that they will last forever in my memory and possibly for a long, long time on this canvas. I pulled this old painting from the garage which was here since we moved in. I always liked that it said “country” on it and tried to keep that part of it along with the bright yellow. It was time to turn it around, perfect for this Alla Prima painting of these flowers. This year I am doing what moves me without regard to ideals. Just enjoying the process of painting……. Expressing the things that bring joy. Painting should be like that……. By Cheryl Nancy Ann Gordon
