Watercolor painting from the vantage point of a frog, looking through a Lily pond with bright pink flowers, green floating pads, and brilliant blue water.

This idyllic setting exudes beauty in it's pond, various flowers and vegetation and lily pads. Nymphaeaceae is a family of flowering plants. Members of this family are commonly called water lilies and live as rhizomatous aquatic herbs in temperate and tropical climates around the world. The family contains five genera with about 70 known species. Water lilies are rooted in soil in bodies of water, with leaves and flowers floating on or emergent from the surface.
