The Reassurance of Touch
A wild foal nuzzles his mother behind her leg as if seeking reassurance. This mare and her foal are mustangs from the South Steens Herd in Eastern Oregon. I love watching the interactions between familial band members and also between the harem bands. These horses have complex emotions and relationships that should be respected as our own are. My original photograph was toned and enhanced for a more painterly feel mostly on the background.
