Title
The Light Morph Ferruginous Hawk
Artist
Debra Martz
Medium
Photograph - Bird Photography
Description
I cannot tell you how excited I was to see this Ferruginous Hawk. Though the dark morph is rarer, I have seen it. This was the first time to see the light morph. It is considered a western hawk and is barely on the line of the range map to be seen in central, northern Oklahoma and listed as winter (scarce). It is the largest of the North American Hawks. They hunt by hopping or running across the ground, from perches such as poles and by flight.
Scientific name: Buteo regalis
