Description
The Jefferson Building, completed in 1897, is the oldest part of the Library of Congress. My picture shows the exterior of the library, from the side of the main entrance. I compose this image to highlight the important fact that the Library of Congress is raised on a podium, reachable through a flight of steps, contributing to a sense of aloofness and grandeur.
