Description
A natural abstract, appropriate as wall art and a variety of products, that features a large piece of Texas limestone in browns, tans, and subtle grays with lots of texture and touches of rust color.
This stone is used extensively in the Texas Hill Country, helping define the unique rugged look associated with this region of the state, in buildings as well as landscaping. It is increasingly used in homebuilding in other areas throughout Texas, especially on the fronts of homes to complement brick.
Limestone is a carbonate sedimentary rock. Its major materials are the minerals calcite and aragonite, which are different crystal forms of calcium carbonate. About ten percent of sedimentary rocks are limestones. It is used primarily as a building and landscaping material, and a component of paint and cement. Limestone is formed from sediments at the bottom of the inland sea that existed millions of years ago. The calcium-containing shells of tiny sea creatures on the seafloor were compressed together over time, creating the limestone. These can be found on some limestone buildings around Texas.
