Title
Sunsets At Kure Beach
Artist
Patty Donoghue
Medium
Painting - Cold Wax And Oil On Wood Panel
Description
A night time stroll on the beach, resulting in beautiful sunset upon climbing the boardwalk, back to the car. My sister captured this beauty, as we were leaving a long and wonderful beach walk, at Kure Beach, North Carolina. The water tower, is actually a decorative awning on a building. But its looks like a tower. The sunlight is directly hitting the buildings on the left, leaving the area filled with warm colors. From the dunes and the beach side, the colors are cooler, in the shadows. I was challenged to paint nocturnal scenes. They really are amazing, once you dissect the various shades, and color tones that are within the picture. Maybe too light, but the colors are magnificent. The sea oat, and dune grass, are silhouetted against the sunset scene. I so appreciate the photographers that continue to bring me challenge subjects to paint.
