Stirred...not Shaken

Description
A sign atop a building in Firenze (Florence), Italy promoting "Martini", the purveyor of the original vermouth (Martini & Rossi) since 1863.
The original martini was made with gin, and a gin martini benefits from stirring with ice rather than being shaken. Shaking a drink with ice makes the drink much colder than stirring and when gin is subjected to extreme cold, it looses much of its flavor and aromatics.
A vodka martini, on the other hand, may benefit from shaking since ice cold vodka reportedly tastes better. OK, that's enough of that. Do your own due diligence...you'll figure it out. Salute!
