Title
Springtime Cottonwoods
Artist
Heidi Fickinger
Medium
Photograph - Photographic Print
Description
In Southern Utah, the landscape is dotted by cottonwood trees. In the summer, the brilliant green of their leaves is startling against the red and orange sandstone landscape. In the fall, their brilliant yellow leaves catch the light like golden coins. In winter, their stark grey trunks are stark against the mostly clear, deep blue sky. But in the early spring, the magic of tiny, incandescent green leaves light the tops of the trees like magic fairy light. Although you cannot see the color in this black and white film photograph, the shining light of the leaves can be clearly seen.

Thank you Robin. This image is done from a 4X5 large format film negative. That was the way I photographed for years.
