Anyone who's experienced the sweet, heady fragrance during the spring and summer in the southern United States will remember.... as the magnolias begin to bloom, their beautiful creamy white blossoms glowing amongst glossy, rich green leaves. Beautiful as they are, it's the scent on the breeze that is most memorable to me.
I've tried to capture the essence of that memory in "Southern Spring." I photographed this beautiful magnolia bud,about to burst open, in a park in Marshall, Virginia. I've gently edited the image for a slightly diffused, dreamy look, and finished it with a subtle "antiqued" overlay. I think it makes a rather pretty and elegant piece....
