~ from the ASHEVILLE DROLLS & INKLINGS series- characters and caricatures found only in the mountains of North Carolina- after escaping from my Asheville art studio. (((*:*)) where they come to life--sometimes in the wee hours.

These creatures may be opinionated but with all good will and humor. Simple Words. Share a Message--be it Light-hearted or Serious. . . . . P.S. Theyare great on MUGS! Or CARDS--or any number of "surface art" pieces.

What happens when you "SHIFT" your perspective with the ease of an extraordinary cat? This "neurographic" image attempts to look at that-- some say, the image implies that we can arrive at diverse and amazing perspectives--.While later I painted the image, I saved the original for the series of the "INKLINGS" collection here.

Working with creative energies with a meditative/relaxing and envisioning technique using pen and ink is exciting for you tend to be surprised with visual outcomes and the thought blossoms that accompany an image. The nudge and jolt when elements come together with a sense of joie de vivre as I experienced when creating this "neurographic" image can be captivating.This image simply "happened" one lazy afternoon day as I was sketching a cat here in my studio. .

And THIS was inspired not by an ordinary cat--but by a bobcat who came strolling by my studio .!!

It began as a pen-and-ink sketch--a "neurographic" jaunt into the realm of possibility where all kinds of cats can communicate..

For me, creating images is a coalescing experience. I "lose track of time" while in the creative flow, and feel a deepening sense of calm. I love the idea of lyrical abstraction where I can blend geometric and organic influences.

The technique I have turned to-(as you see here)- to work toward "letting go and moving effortlessly " into a creative process that goal is Neurographic art. It is one rooted in psychology and akin to meditative practices. For more info: https://www.neurographica.us


MEDIA:: Sketch for composition to paper. The result then captured as a photo and brought to create a JPEG. Finally, digital layering of the original materials.


Objective:: Narrative art with emotive content- that offers an opportunity for the viewer to interpret the story being told, and thus add to the story. Whether as a digital abstractionist, working as well on canvas and with photography to produce mixed media images, my hope is to engage the person who is looking at the image.

Symbolism :: Ever a sense of joy of life, transitions, new perceptions that evoke positive change, the embracing of an inner - symbolic-mythic- visual landscape that can reveal how disparate parts work together when visual impressions, founded on simple or more complex designs, build on a promising tale of life on Earth.
