Sheryl Crow is the second studio album by the American singer-songwriter. It is self-titled and produced by her, released September 24, 1996 by A& M Records. The album reflects on American life, relationships, and moral-ethical issues while crossing into musical genres of rock, blues, alternative rock and folk. All songs were written by Sheryl Crow and one or more collaborators.
The album was a commercial success with almost immediate 3X Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA, and also 3X Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. It quickly reached #6 on the US Billboard Top 200 chart. Five singles charted and “If It Makes You Happy” became an international hit. The album was well received by critics praising its production values and forceful vocal deliveries by Crow. The album was awarded Best Rock Album at the 1997 Grammy Awards and Sheryl received the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance award for “If It Makes You Happy”. The self-titled albums is many times regarded as Sheryl Crow's best.
