Description
Scarlet Tanager's are rarely seen ,they stay hidden in the canopy of the tall trees ,it's like they know they stand out like a wedding bride in a ball room filled with black tuxedos. When I captured these shots I was blessed by having my 300mm and D2X already prepared for shooting and when they came down out of the trees he landed on this old snag and headed for the blackberry vines growing nearby. It gave me that rare shot of such a brilliant bird up close and not a twig in my way and I even caught him feeding on the berries , he only ate two and promptly flew away taking his female with him. Just one of the birds that winter in South America and fly through here in Southern Ohio so seldom. It truly is a treat and a thrill to capture such beauty I hope you enjoy it as well.
