Children live in an imaginary world.The Bonneville Salt Flats are a magical place. I combined the two for a world-record shattering, high-speed, bicycle vs seagull race. If you've never seen the Bonneville Salt Flats, put it on your bucket list. When you get there, it probably won't be what you expected. For instance, those world-record shattering, high-speed races can only take place during the hot summer months. The rest of the time the salt is too wet as you can see from the tire tracks in this photo. This image is a bit fanciful, but dreams of speed are no less fantastical. P.S. Did you notice the lighthouse in the distant background. Perhaps those early settlers wouldn't have gotten lost and starved to death trying to cross this desolate stretch had it really existed in the 1800's.
