Description
Photograph of reenactment Union artillery on the 3rd day of the Battle of Gettysburg. This was done on Cemetary Ridge during Pickett's Charge, near the copse of trees. The strategy was to make Confederate forces think they were pulling back the lines when in reality the artillery reestablished a line with infantry hidden behind a field stone wall as rebels approached. The result was devastating casualities and the rebel advance was halted. Copyright 1990 Joann Kohr.
