They say a picture is worth a thousand words, however, I believe this has far more than that. He said her beauty was greater than this pond; that she accepted. He said he would never leave her and she returned the words in kind. Perhaps this is all wrong. Perhaps he was saying goodbye...trying to explain his deep need to explore the world. We will never know, we can only speculate. For it is the same, with all intimate conversations. Their meaning lost to us and we can only imagine the truth of it.
