Description
While visiting San Michele in Foro, a Roman Catholic basilica in Lucca, Italy, I stood in the shadows in the back of the church and observed several people in the altar area lighting candles. This young man with his backpack and cap touched my heart as he reverently stood and paused for a few moments after lighting his candle. It spoke to me that he took time out of his busy day, most likely on his way somewhere else, to stop by the church right before Easter. He lingered in a thoughtful pose before continuing on his way, making me think that he had his priorities in order. (This image has been digitally enhanced from the original photograph to achieve a painterly presentation.)
