Description

On July the 3rd 2018 I decided to head down to Galveston to photograph some historic architecture around the University of Texas Medical Buildings. What I hadn't counted on was the strong center of low pressure that was heading our way from Louisiana, in a NE to SW direction. Looking at the radar, it looked like I still had some time around the island, but as I was making my way south from Downtown Galveston to the Seawall, I looked east and a well defined line of thunderstorms was rapidly coming our way. Racing against time, I found a parking space on the boulevard, got my gear and positioned myself on the seawall looking Southeast. I could clearly hear the yells of the people enjoying themselves at the amusement park...soon after this, I headed back to Houston when I was pelted with 60 mph wind gusts on the freeway, combined with fast-moving curtains of wall pouring down from the sky.
