Pair Of Dall Sheep In Yukon

Description
A pair of all-white dall sheep (Ovis dalli) appear to be resting and enjoying the scenery as they take a break from climbing in Yukon’s rocky mountainous terrain north of Skagway, Alaska, USA.
O. dalli (dall sheep, with various subcategories) are found in areas with a combination of dry alpine tundra, meadows, and steep or rugged ground. This combination allows for both grazing and escape from predators. Dall sheep can often be observed along the Seward Highway South of Anchorage, where we saw a herd of half a dozen climbing the steep mountain terrain. They also can be found within Denali National Park and Preserve, Kluane National Park and Reserve, and other locations. Faro, Yukon, is on the list of places to see them, and that locale seems to fit this rugged scene.

This was a favorite surprise "find" among my Alaska photos, which I reviewed after several years. What a great learning experience too. Thank you, Frank, for featuring it in your Compact Digital Camera Photographers group!
