Norwegian Bliss Spa Snow Room,

My husband and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this year on board the newest and largest Norwegian Cruise ship called the "Bliss." It was amazing!! One of the things I was looking forward to trying out was the Spa Snow Room. Yes, it is a spa room that is available along with the regular sauna and salt room.

The difference with the Snow Room compared to the other treatment rooms is that the allotted time inside is a maximum of 2 minutes (maybe 3, I can't remember). Most people would be in there for a minute or less. As you can see, there are no seats for a reason. With all the major surgeries I had in the last 2 years, I was determined to give it a go. Wow, it was a very COOL experience. I know, who wants to go into freezing cold wintry snow when in the Caribbean? Usually folks who are curious and those with aches and pains.

As you can see by the picture, it is rather snowy and frosty in this retreat room. I believe the temperature is kept at about 14-15 degrees Fahrenheit. Brrrrrrrr! The flurries of powdery snow descend from the ceiling. Again, very cool to experience.

What is the benefit of the Snow Spa Room? It's suppose to be good for aches and pains. It is recommended to do what I did ... spend time in the thermal suite's heated sauna first and then enter into the snow room. The concept is to go from hot to cold. By doing this, your blood vessels constrict and dilate which is apparently great for our blood circulation and immune system. I highly recommend at least walking in for a couple of seconds so you can tell your family and friends you did it!! It is quite therapeutic! And YES, I look forward to experiencing the Snow Spa Room again. Emmy Vickers,
