Description
Mule deer were named for their ears, which are large like those of a mule, they are indigenous to Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region of North America. They have a black-tipped tail and ears. Mule deer does (females) and fawns (young deer) like these frequent the fields in the valley and hide in the cedar treed foothills as the weather gets colder at higher elevations and they are forced to move down with the snow line to find food. Many residents of the area watch each morning and evening to see them and await the chance to get photographs of the elusive animals. Usually it is too late and the light is not good for a photograph by the time they sneak out into the clearing to graze.
Color profile corrected 5/24/17.
