Description
The fifth studio album by the American rock band the Doors was released in February 170 by Electra records. The album is divided into two separately titled sides; “Hard Rock Cafe”, sound familiar?, and “Morrison Hotel”. The album reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 list. No hit singles were generated for the album but it features two of the group most popular songs “Roadhouse Blues” and “Peace Frog” that have become stapled of “classic rock” radio.
The band endured a sullied reputation due to lead singer, Jim Morrison's, the Lizard King, drunken antics on stage and on the road. Their songs were “black listed” from radio play and 25 tour dates
were canceled during 1969-70. Morrison has been ranked #47 on Rolling Stones list of “100 Greatest Singers of All Time”. He died unexpectedly in Paris on July 3, 1971 at the age of 27. The cause of death remains unknow. The band continues as a trio until disbanding in 1973.
