Description
The 60- 85 foot tall (depends on where you look for info) Moriarity tomb in Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans is a prime feature in this particular historic land of the dead. On it are four statues- Faith, Hope, Charity, and Memory, one of which cannot be seen here. In the late 1800's it was built at great expense. The final total is said to be $185, 000.00. A couple of construction companies went bankrupt trying to build it to specs. Statues are life size. For more info please see http://wgno.com/2013/09/03/a-story-of-love-revenge-metairie-cemeterys-tallest-monument-snubs-rich-snobs-2/ for the story behind the giant tomb. In short, Mrs Moriarity was snubbed by NOLA society, so her husband made SURE her tomb overlooked those of the snubber families. You gotta love this stuff!
