Bridges are one of the most important buildings in our civilization. Without bridges modern life could not be imagined. But bridges can also be intrpreted in a transferred sense: Connexion between different peoples, between different cultures,..different religions and so on... Of course,..also between different individual persons....! One of the most exciting interpretations of bridges,..as I see it,..is that a bridge may symbolize the connexion between material world and transcendental world,..between here and now...and eternety.... In this painting I am under the impression, that the bridge is painted,..or viewed from the river,....may I interpret this,..between one side of the river and the other,..between one world and the other?! .. Bridges are no onewaystreet,..we can go this direction, or the other, just as we like it! Life is not to be imagined without them,...just like in transferred sense between different individual persons.....v/f Almo

Dear Almo, How I love to read your thoughts and beautifully accurate interpretations of my paintings.You often add so much more too for me to consider. I love painting bridges, and here, the idea is that the bridge does indeed symbolize the connection between the material and the transcendental world. The idea is also that we can cross that bridge here and now. Not after death,or in an imagined future. But by being present to the "Now", the "Kingdom of Heaven", "Nirvana" whatever name you wish, can be glimpsed, or realized. I think this is why Jesus said said that the Kingdom of heaven is here Now. "Now" is the only time there is and the only place that "the Real" can be found. So simple,so obvious, so difficult!!! Because we think that is just too simple and we over look it. It seems boring! We want the next moment.We want more. Not this ! So we never arrive. Myself included of course!!! But I'm working on it!!!! Working on being here right now,which is laughable in a way because where else could I be? So mysterious,so paradoxical,so simple,so beautiful. Thank you SO much Almo .
