Description
Founded in 1716, Mission Concepcion located in San Antonio, TX was one of the six missions that was authorized by the government to serve as a buffer against French incursion into Spanish territory.
After 20 years of construction, Mission Concepcion was dedicated in 1755 and is int he most original shape of all of the six missions that were built due to the fact that it was built on bedrock. Maintaining it’s original roof. The mission has many original frescos and is one of the best specimens of Spanish Fresco and style from the 1700s.
Today, the mission is maintained by the National Park Service.
