A window at the office at Allen Harbor in Harwich Port, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in decades. When I looked a little closer, I saw a face looking back at me. At first it was a little ghoulish (and I made some Halloween party invitations from that version), but I looked deeper and imagined a ghost of a seafarer. Some of the marks in the background appeared like boats to me, so I have done some digital painting and refinements to create this Memories of the Sea.
Cape Cod is a peninsula in the shape of an arm off the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It is a popular summertime destination for its quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses, freshwater glacier ponds, and bays and beaches. Visitors can board ferries in Hyannis and Harwich Port to cruise over to the Cape islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Cape Cod extends from Provincetown at the northeast tip of the fingers to Woods Hole in the upper arm in the southwest. Chatham is located mid-Cape at the elbow.
