.........................................................................
The Marine Corps War Memorial or The Iwo Jima Memorial is a military memorial statue outside the walls of the Arlington National Cemetery and next to the Netherlands Carillon, in Arlington, Virginia, in the United States. The memorial is dedicated to all personnel of the United States Marine Corps who have died in the defense of their country since 1775.
The design of the massive sculpture by Felix de Weldon was based on the Iconic photo Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima, taken during the Battle of Iwo Jima by Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal.
..........................................................................
The memorial features the Marines and Sailor who raised the second flag over Iwo Jima: Sgt Michael Strank, Cpl Harlon Block, PFC Franklin Sousley, PFC Rene Gagnon, PFC Ira Hayes, PM2 John Bradley.

We really appreciate you stopping by to view our work. Paintings or Photographs of beautiful things, especially those in nature can help you feel better, when you stop and take a few moments to see all the details. It could even surprise you, just how relaxed you can feel after viewing 100 or more images (just try it today) when you take the time for a break. View or scan them carefully noticing details you would not have otherwise seen, and take the time to see a hundred or so images in that manner. Just clicking Next at the top of the page, again, and again. Just breathing slowly as you are taking the time to find details you would not normally have noticed. Breathing slowly as you watch the next page loading, can even be a form of meditatioon or relaxation as you think of the scene or landscaps as if you are actually in that environment. And when you take ten minutes or so to observe them and pay attention to how you are feeling as you do. we know you will enjoy our work, even more, and you can just return whenever you feel like you can use a break... just enjoy them, even more, before long...

Nadine and Bob, Fantastic patriotic painting love the colors that you have used and the great details in this historical fixture, made me think of my son right away who is serving right now as a marine at the age of 22 for the past 3 years and just re-enlisted for another 4 years. Excellent colors used as the backdrop in the sky that just pops right out at you and creates a great silhouette of the marines. Excellent painting, favorite, voted, google and FB promoted as seen in the group, USA Artist News promo thread

Nadine & Bob, I can see why this would have appeal to many. The textures that you have utilized here enhance the image giving it the appearance of canvas. Voted
Bob and Nadine Johnston replied:
Chose it, because we have seen some paintings done by Navajo's in Chinle on Sandstone and liked the texture that the surface... gave them.
