Description
I spotted this great egret in a little marshy area at the edge of the Honey Lake Wildlife Area in Lassen County California, USA. The majestic bird was wading in the shallows and feeding when first spotted. I got out of the car a bit down the road and got out to get a shot. It decided it wanted no part of me (they are fairly timid, in my experience) and flew off. It was at least good enough to fly lateral to my position and let me grab a frame as it contrasted nicely with the sage brush in the background.
They are majestic indeed and look quite graceful in flight.
