This is Los Angeles River, an urban wildlife habitat. This is a monochrome (B&W) version of my color version in the LA River collection.
This is a new addition to my LA River collection, and portray an early morning view of the Los Angeles River a few years ago. As in many of my LA River photos, the dominant aspect is the habitat, with the wildlife occupying a small part of the view. Here, a Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is foraging for early morning breakfast.
The amazing part of the habitat is that it is so lush and tranquil, in the midst of a highly populated area.
