Kunde Vineyards,
Sonoma Valley is always a beautiful place to take a drive to no matter what time of year you decide to do it. My favorite time of the year though is at the peak of the fall color season. This can be easier said then done though as t is very difficult to judge when the peak season will be.
Part of the issue is that the different varietals change colors at different times. If you go too early you will see some color but many vines will be as green as they are during mid summer. If you go too late many of the vines will be bare.
In this case I'm not sure I really caught the peak of the season as the fires that ravaged the area kept me out of the valley for a couple of weeks during what may have been the peak season.
Either way, I captured this image off of highway 12 in between the city of Sonoma and Santa Rosa. This is the Kunde Family Vineyard as best as I could tell. The fires spared most of the vineyards but many homes along the highway had been destroyed.
