Description
This painting is one of four created for a restaurant in Kelowna, BC, just after one particularly bad summer of forest fires.
The foreground shows neat rows of applied sand, representing the vineyards of the Okanagan. The next band of color is the red of the lake, which actually appeared red with the glowing fires. The next color is the brown of the hills, devoid of detail as viewed through the smoke. The top-most section represents the fires reflecting into the sky, creating an orange glow.
And amongst the fires, the city of Kelowna remained vibrant and sexy in the heat of summer - represented by the outline of a slender woman, stretched out and laying on her back.
