Donβt take this owl for a fool!
This is a Little Owl; the smallest owl in the UK. Given itβs small stature, it hunts for its prey just before sunset and just before dawn. The reason for that is to avoid being predated itself. During the day and night this owl is small enough to be hunted by larger birds of prey. How clever is nature!
This is quite a young bird at around 3 or 4 months old, but fully grown. There are still some signs of down feathers, but most of the adult plumage has already formed.
