Description
We had an exciting few minutes photographing this herd of guanacos along a ridge on the roadside in the Patagonia region of Argentina. We followed them for awhile as they paralleled the road from a distance providing us some great photos with the mountains in the background. But then they disappeared away from us over the ridge and we thought that was the end of it. But within a short time, we started to see some heads peaking over the ridgeline. And suddenly the herd appeared and was in full gallop diagonally across the field in front of us. It lasted only a minute or two and then they were off in the distance. We all hoped our camera settings were right to catch it! The guanaco is native to South America and closely related to the llama.
