1st Place Winner in the 10/2019 Spain and Portugal Vacations Contest
Park Güell was established by Eusebi Güell with Antoni Gaudà during 1900. Gaudà designed the park with the use of natural art elements out from the surrounding areas creating colourful sculptures and buildings. Park Güell was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for “Works of Antoni GaudÆin 1984.
Unfortunately, the day we were there about 50 % of the park was closed for renovation and installation of new works. I still was able to photograph several of Gaudi's iconic pieces.
Here we see Gaudi's famous dragon/salamander fountain near the entrance to the park.
