Description
My maternal grandmother came to Colorado with her husband and children during the depression and dust bowl because they lost everything in Southestern Colorado (Lamar area) and didn't have enough to eat or feed livestock They eventually moved to Cedaredge, Colorado at the foot of Grand Mesa. Grandma didn't have a flower bed because the time and ground had to be used to raise food but, Chicory grew and bloomed wild there. She valued them greatly and would not let anyone cut them even though they were considered a weed. They were her food for the soul.
