Description
Mother's Day is a time when children often give us gifts. How sweet are the gifts from a child's hand. When I think of all GOD has done for me I often wonder what I could give to HIM. It is a question I often think of during Lent in the church. I thought of many wonderful gifts that I had received from wealthy people. Grand gifts, but often that made me feel indebted. No, my gift to GOD could never be grand, for I do not own anything HE didn't give to me. I also knew I did not want to feel so haughty as to want GOD to feel indebted to me. My gift needed to be given in the spirit of a child, innocent and not expecting anything in return. So I began picking up friends in my prayers and dropping them into GOD's hands. Like a child pulling up flowers from the yard and dropping them in his Mother's hand. The parents own the land and every flower in it, but the gift is not the flower, but the willingness to be generous. So I pray. Depositing my friends, my problems, my plans, all I could give, but not all that GOD owned into HIS Hands. Wrapped in hope. Wrapped in prayers. Simple gifts. Like a wildflower from a child. The simplest gift and yet the most complex. For it represents so much more.
