Description
FEATURED ON THE MAIN HOMEPAGE OF FINE ART AMERICA
Dozens of delicate pale pink buttercups dot a grassy area in spring green. Photographed along a country road in the Prairies and Lakes region of Texas, USA. This flower appears to closely resemble the evening primrose, which opens in the evening. But this is a daytime bloomer, and an educated guess tells me these are buttercups. Whatever one might choose to call them, they sure are pretty.
According to a field guide, Texas Wildflowers, in most families whose petals and stamens are of the same number, the stamens alternate with the petals. In the Primrose Family each stamen stands opposite the middle of a petal. There are generally five petals in Texas species.
No sky, no people, no trees, no structures. Simply buttercups (Primulaceae) on a background of green.
