Description
Hitoric chapel on Mount Radhost in Pustevny in Beskydy mountains in the east of the Czech Republic. Minimalism. The chapel rises out of the white mist. Wooden Catholic chapel shaved by frost and snow.
Radhošť is the most famous mountain in the Beskids Protected Landscape Area. It measures 1129 m in height and offers beautiful views of the Beskid Mountains, Wallachia, the Jeseník Mountains and the Greater and Lesser Fatra Mountains.
Radhošť was long associated with worshipping the pagan god of hospitality, fertility and harvest – Radegast. According to legend, this god of the sun, war and victory lived upon this holy mountain, and people would bring gifts from near and far in his honour. At the end of spring the ancient Slavs would celebrate the summer solstice on Radhošť. At night they would light bonfires, dance and sing. Pagan customs survived into Christian times, flourishing despite the legend that Cyril and Methodius had sought to destroy the idol and replace it with a cross. Radegast was apparently saved by a pagan priest and smuggled underground.

Excellent capture of this beautiful architectural piece. Love this color palette. LFTw

That small bit of brown wood emphasizes the cold environment the chapel is in!
