Description
These wild flowers are called Fire Wheel, also known as Indian Blanket. I was out in the field meadow with my macro lens to look for interesting things to photograph. This one flower was tall in the grasses so I was able to get under it and get this interesting shot. The angle of this flower shows the intricate dark red veining through the petals which is an interesting aspect of the flower that is not usually seen.
Indian Blanket flowers (Gaillardia pulchella) are also known as Fire Wheel flowers. It is the state flower of Oklahoma but you see a lot of these in my part of north Texas as well. It grows in meadows and along the highways with other wildflowers.
