Description
I captured this osprey landing on a dead snag at Antelope Lake in Plumas County, California, USA. When I first saw it, it was in its nest, which I’d just seen for the first time. The sun was probably 10 minutes from dropping over the ridge in the west (camera right) so the bird was flying directly in to some gorgeous golden hour light. I can (and often do) lose track of time watching these amazing raptors as they show off their skills as the best fishers on the water. Someday I’ll capture the exact moment of the catch; I’ve just missed it a few times; but just about any photo of these wonderful raptors is worth shooting!
