Ted DeGrazia sometimes prayed to the Virgin of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico. Here she is on display in a c.1890 photo of a dead woman honored by her grieving family.
Mexican cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa (1907-1997) had collaborated with director John Huston (1906-1987) earlier in the black and white "Night of the Iguana" (1964), also shot in Mexico.
Huston had abandoned his costly estate in Ireland and built a simple house in Puerto Vallarta, where "Iguana" had been partially lensed.
Figuero was director of photography on many Luis Bunuel Mexican films of the 1950's and early 1960's; as well as John Ford's pretentious "The Fugitive," 1947�
