Painting - Contemporary, Abstract, Acrylic And Enamel With Mixed Media On Canvas
Description
This is a contemporary, abstract, acrylic and enamel with mixed media on canvas. This is a painting of a local St. Louis, MO musician and his big band, The Dave Dickey Big Band. As you can see, the bass has a clock that shows One O 'Clock, a reference to the University of North Texas One O' Clock Lab Band that Dave was a member of. The artist was inspired by numerous jazz greats including drummers Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich who use to have drum battles on who was the best (which was recorded and later issued on vinyl (a CD edition called The Drum Battle at JATP appeared courtesy of Verve in 1999). Gh is a big fan of Groucho Marx and has Groucho playing the bass. A sand additive was used to thicken the paint along with circles created with an 1800's era beer bottle that the artist uses throughout his many paintings. Signed front and back.
