An American Bison skull bleaches white in the hot summer sun on the western plains of Southern Utah as the evening sun glances across Courthouse rock just north of the city of Moab Utah.

A series of clouds paint the pastel blue sky with streaks of puffy white and gray as a freak storm threatens the landscape.

Prickly pear cactus grow up around the bison skull taking advantage of what nutrients were left in the remains of this once proud symbol of the American west, as green grasses grow from the red earth of this part of the country. Many storms have come to Utah this year, and the plains have grown green and full, a few cottonwood trees grow along a wash taking advantage of the runoff from this season’s storms.
