Description
One of the prettier places I got to visit this summer was Stony Pass near Silverton, Colorado. I'd been there before, but this time the conditions were really impressive with wildflowers in full bloom. I decided to spend the night there and while my night photography plans didn't materialize (just too cloudy), the sunset period was gorgeous.
And considering how far this spot is off the beaten path, it was a bit of a surprise to run into 4 different photographers that I knew within just a few minutes. It was a really nice surprise to see them there!
How I Got The Shot
Having done some head-to-head testing, I decided to return my A7SII and run with the Sony A7RII instead. It seems to fit well with my style of photography and I'm excited to be using it together with a Metabones adapter and a line of Sigma lenses. I will say that in this situation, the focus peaking made the job of focusing on just the right spot very easy.
This is just a single exposure shot with a few adjustments in post-processing. I started with some curves adjustments to tone down the brighter areas and then added skylight and darken/lighten center filters in Nik's Color Efex Pro.
