A colorful variety of succulents, planted in a bowl, are shown in beautiful light on a rustic patio table in the Houston, Texas, area. Succulents, or crass, are a group of plants that store water in their leaves, stems and roots. The leaves tend to be thick and fleshy, but some genera and species have thicker leaves than others.
Succulents tend to thrive in dry and slightly humid climates. The bluish gray echeveria shown here in a macro image appears to have a small blossom forming. Many varieties of succulents are known to bloom. These pretty plants come in a wide variety of species. Some are related to cactus, but sometimes it’s not real clear which are and which are not. In any case, succulents provide a delightful, low-maintenance visual treat, especially when appreciated close-up as these are. Ideal for a sunny spot on a patio.
