Description
The Central Office Building was originally known as the Reid, Murdoch, and Company building was built in 1914 for use as offices and as a grocery warehouse. In the 1950s if you had a traffic violation, this is where you went for traffic court. In Chicago history this building is notable as it was used as a makeshift hospital after the Eastland disaster which happened on the opposite side of the river from this building. In 1930 the westernmost bay was demolished, due to the widening of LaSalle Street, and the façade lost its symmetry. As of 1974, this building is now designated as a Chicago Landmark.
All proceeds will be donated to Chicago's Cornerstone Community Outreach in honor of photographer Richard Cleis, 1965-2021.
